Y'all, I am terribly sorry it has taken me this long to get the dark squares for the Christmas Game Board up. First school started. Then, my husband and sons all got the flu. We've had 2 cub scout camping trips. We've also had major bullying issue directed at my oldest and a health scare that resulted in an ER visit. Finally, despite the fact that I am now homeschooling my oldest, life is calming down. Everyone is healthy. Everyone is happy. And, I can finally get back here and get the last of the Christmas Game Board released.

This week, I am releasing the designs for the red or dark squares on the game board. There are 4 designs available for the red or dark squares and you can use anywhere from 1 to all 4 of the designs.

Christmas Game Board Part 4

I finally made it back with the 4th part of our Christmas game board.

This is precisely 1/4 of the game board. If you stitch this design on 28 ct fabric (over 2), it will be big enough to actually play on. The entire design measures 190 x 190 stitches and will cover approximately 14 sq inches of fabric. To give yourself a 3 inch border for framing, buy a 20 in by 20 in piece of fabric. Also, you will want to stitch this on evenweave or linen as there is some over 1 stitching.

Starting next week, I will begin releasing the designs for the squares. Their are a total of 4 dark colored designs (bell, ornament, tree, and wreath) and 4 white designs (angel, manger, snowflake, and snowman). I will probably choose two of each when I stitch my game board so it doesn't look too busy. However, that is simply my preference and you can chose as few as one dark and one white or use all of them.

Share Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support, Inc. serves those whose lives are touched by the tragic death of a baby through early pregnancy loss, stillbirth, or in the first few months of life. Unfortunately, this is a cause near and dear to my heart. I know many people, like myself, who have lost pregnancy after pregnancy in their pursuit to build their family. And, sadly, I have 3 close friends who have either lost full term babies or lost a baby shortly after birth. Through their local chapters, Share offers people who have experienced a loss a place of safety and understanding that they may not find elsewhere. I wanted to recognize the very important work Share does and create a way my fellow crafters could recognize a friend or relative who has gone through a loss. The wonderful people at Share gave Cuppa Joe Designs permission to create some cross stitch designs using their logo.

This design is for the people of Share Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support, Inc., my friends in the online *ALI (adoption, loss, and infertility) community, anyone who has suffered through a loss, and for all my fellow stitchers who want to honor any of these people.

New design to be released on Saturday...

Its a few days earlier than I would usually aim for but there are reasons for that. I am so excited about this design and I hope it will mean a lot to a bunch of people who are really important to me.

Yeah, I know I'm still being cryptic. And, yes this has to do with the big secret from last Sunday. Things have come together perfectly and I will have those designs ready for public consumption by Saturday.

At least, its exciting to me and I hope it will be to you as well. We are negotiating with a major national charitable organization to offer their logo as a freebie. This is an organization that is near and dear to my heart. Its a group that even if you haven't availed yourself of their services, you probably know someone who might have. Hopefully, I will be getting the final word by next Monday or Tuesday and I can let you know the name of the organization then.

Hearts and Butterflies

Hearts and Butterflies was originally designed for a quilt the ladies of Cross Stitch Crazy made for a dear friend who was being treated for breast cancer. While there are many gorgeous breast cancer support designs out there, I wanted something a bit more personalized. Butterflies have always symbolized hope to me and the hearts symbolized the love and friendship I feel for her. I wish I could tell you the name of the fabric I stitched it on but, sadly, I can't find the label. I do know that the spectacular fabric I stitched it on was from Silkweaver.

Whatever You're Doing, Mommy

This design was inspired by my youngest daughter. She is often my shadow, and the title of this piece was her response when I asked her what she wanted to do one morning. When I'm worn down, she reminds me in her own way of how much she loves me. Happy Mother's Day to all of you!

Sleep Is A Poor Substitute

This freebie was inspired by a night in college long, long ago. It was right before finals and I was complaining about needing sleep. One of my wonderfully smart-assed friends responded, "Sleep is a poor substitute for coffee." Year later, the memory of this comment inspired this freebie.

Blackwork Teddy Bear

We've been thrilled with the wonderful reception our baby blackwork designs have received. However, while we may revisit this theme in the future, all good things must come to an end. The final design in our Baby Blackwork Designs is the Blackwork Teddy Bear. Once again, we haven't had a chance to stitch this one ourselves so the first person to send us a stitched picture will get it displayed in this post with full credit.

Blackwork Rattle

We offer the design with either a pink ribbon or a blue ribbon on the rattle making it easy to customize for your favorite little one. Problems downloading the files in Firefox

Its come to my attention that some people are having trouble downloading the files in Firefox. I can't seem to replicate this issue (I use the most current Firefox) so I don't know how to fix it. Currently, I am hosting the pdfs on a free pdf hosting site as our commercial site isn't up and running yet. Hopefully, once that is up and I can move the freebies to our commercial server, any issues will be resolved. However, until that time, if you can't get it to download, please email us and we can email you either the PDF or a PC Stitch file. I can't promise 24 hour turn around on emails (I'm a mom with three kids) but I will try my hardest.

Sorry if any of y'all are having problems.

Thank you so much for taking the time to stop by our blog home and check out our very first freebie. While we work at getting the retail part of our business up and running, we will be offering freebies on a regular basis. Next Monday, the first of the Baby Blackwork freebies will be going up. There are a total of 4 designs in this series - a blackwork ducky, a blackwork abc block, a blackwork rattle, and a blackwork teddy bear. These are a nice alternative for someone who wants to stitch a present for a friend's baby but doesn't want to be stuck with the same old thing. I hope you enjoy stitching this series as much as I enjoyed designing it.

Additionally, we have had such a positive response to our first coffee themed freebie that we are planning at least one more coffee freebie (Robin, you will really like the next one). Welcome to the blog home of Cuppa Joe Designs. We are a brand new cross stitch design company founded by two friends with a passion for stitching and just enough insanity to think we can make a go of it in the design world. Between the two of us, we have almost 30 years of obsession and immersion in the world of cross stitch.

Why Cuppa Joe Designs? Well to start with, we are both complete coffee addicts. If it's coffee, we like it. We also wanted a name for our company that didn't suggest one style of design. That just isn't us. We stitch and design anything and everything. One day the inspiration might bring forth a hardanger design and another day it might bring forth a simple, fun, quick stitch design. Finally, when we stitch and design, we settle in, bounce ideas off each other, relax and enjoy the process and each other. It's a stitchy version of a coffee klatsch.
